This is from Ensign's Guide:
The frequency with which you will land a critical hit is dependent upon several factors - your character level, the level of the victim, and, if you're using a sword, axe, or hammer, the appropriate attribute level. The exact formula for landing a critical chance is unknown, and due to it being a matter of statistical analysis it is rather difficult to test. In rough terms, your chance of landing a critical hit against a foe of comparable level with a level 12 weapon mastery is roughly 20% - if you're a level 20 character beating up on level 1 targets with a level 12 weapon mastery, your critical chance is very close to 100%.
EDIT: Bolded some parts related to weapon attributes for the people who dont know how to read. Seriously learn to read.

He was directing that towards the question posed by the guy above him.
At any rate, this thread needs to be closed.
Knowledge just doesn't rub off on some people even if it hit them like a baseball bat with wet paint.

1.5*attribute level is arbitrarily close to actual critical hit percentages for a level 20 on a level 20.
Start putting in level differences and things become a mess - I'm still testing that on and off but it's a headache.
Peace,

This is why I gave up posting on guru. I'm sure you have some crap build that supposedly ''works extremely well and destroys in random arena'' which uses a 9 att weapon. Fact is you always want to be above 12 and most of the time as a warrior you wnt it at 16. For a ranger it's often hard to reach 16 but above 12 is mandatory if you plan on using the bow for your damage source.
P.S.: I think I remember you from that Ranger/Warrior thread back on the TGH forums. Are you going to come infest these forums as well ?

You only use your weapon so much, with a couple of weapons skills in your bar. Is powershot any better when it does 20 dmg, instead of 16? (keep in mind a trap or troll unguent will be much better due to lower weapon req) Just my opinion though, you may very well be right.

I dont really care about any type of specialty build you and your fellow team mates came up with that doesn't use 12 or above for marks. I'm talking about using a weapon to actually do high damage with it. And of course a trapper doesn't need a bow, he's a trapper !! Then again who uses trappers in PvP ?

Rangers can easily get away with running the minimal 9 in marksmanship (or 0 if you really don't need damage), if they're specializing in something else (interrupts, trapping, beast mastery, running, etc.) But for warriors, there are arguably not as many other things they're good for in PvP than damage output...you're kinda doing yourself a disservice if you're not tossing as many points possible into your mastery.
